I did call MP this morning to try to catch a US-based agent. On the recording while I was waiting to be connected, they stated that UA is undertaking the end-of-year status review, and that all requests should wait until that is completed on Jan 14. I had already invested too much time on the call, so didn't hang up.
The MP 1K agent told me that the button they use to provide such a status waiver was disabled. She had done it last week for someone, but then a few days ago, one of the other agents shared that her button was disabled. My agent went to her screen to check, and sure enough, hers was, too.
Well here's to hoping that on Jan 14, that button reenables

I missed by just about the amount I was slated to earn had I not had to cancel a trip towards the end of the year due to a health concern, so I am hoping for some goodwill!
