Remember that BA adopted the low cost carrier model during the Walsh and Cruz era when there was a lot of focus on removing galley space and galley storage capacity - and on some A320s it also meant removing a toilet at the rear and adding a row of seats without a window.

During the early stages of the Buy on Board Euro Traveller product I remember posts on here about how only a handful of sandwiches or other items were being loaded - again, surely down to the decision to reduce galley storage space. The catering (or lack of) that you see on your long Larnaca flight is the result of many of those low cost carrier ambitions but at high prices for customers. BA grudgingly (as I understand) started to offer a small complimentary sandwich and mini chocolate bar on the 5 hour Cairo service after they realised a biscuit and some water did not cut it for a full service carrier. Although Cairo (and Larnaca) used get a full hot meal service at a time when there was storage capacity on the planes. The good old days.....
