It isn't hanging in the breeze - either
(a) nothing went through and the authorisation will drop off naturally dependant on how long that card maintains authorissations for or
(b) actual payment is taken and a ticket is issued
There is no risk that I can see to the $8000 , since no actual charge has yet been applied to the account
