I reside in North America but plan to take trips to Japan (all over, mix of urban stays with rural Ryokan stays) twice a year for the next few years. We are two travellers who have mainly in business hotels in the past but looking for rooms that are a bit larger so that we can actually open our suitcases. We also really enjoy the in room washing machines at Tokyu Stays.

Is there a hotel loyalty program that I should focus on? I currently have entry level status with IHG but could be persuaded to join others. I'm also open to booking via travel agents to take advantage of Virtuoso, etc
