I’m a globalist. 3+ years ago I tried to use a Cat 1-7 after a SUA and my concierge said it’s not allowed as Hyatt was experiencing customers not leaving their room and didn’t allow a free night to be used. Not sure if that’s official policy or just her opinion. I don’t want to book then have my reservation cancelled.
The system will allow you book the 2nd reservation, but it technically violates Hyatt's T&Cs. There are multiple discussions of this sprinkled throughout the various Hyatt threads. It appears in some cases the hotel will remove your SUA when the 2 reservations are merged. In other cases, folks have reported no issues and even having been allowed to stay in their suite for the extra night. It sounds like a crapshoot from prior reports.

That said, I have a stay like this coming up next week where I booked 4 nights on a SUA and then later booked 5 additional nights not on a SUA. I have no issues moving rooms after night 4 and I'm really hoping i don't lose the SUA nights. But I understand I'm at the mercy of the hotel as to how this plays out.
