Thought I was the only one with the middle name issue. I gave up trying to correct that years ago after many tries on phone and even in person. And yeah, the website login jankiness is ridiculous but as CPH-Flyer says, fixed with an incognito window. There are so many bad UX decisions on the website and app, if I didn't love the aircraft and crew, I'd jump ship.

But rather than this being "How the mighty have fallen", I think it's much more about how they've failed to keep up. I find it so odd that an airline with such great human-facing customer support has such crappy IT. But in Japan, this is unfortunately common. The lack of apex->www redirects is laughable (my fav is that www.cyberagent.co.jp works but cyberagent.co.jp fails...a tech company for Alan Turing's sake!)

Anyway, pro tip—when out of Japan, esp. when in the US, I always call the Japan number for anything. And if you can speak Japanese, definitely choose that as there are many more operators. If you are JGC or Diamond, you should be connected very quickly. I'll even gotten a callback after the one time my line dropped.
