Completely agree, if it's true I'm sure Marriott would find a way to give us very limited benefits or points earning/usage at these hotels, i.e. less than ritz reserve.

Also would be surprised, as the way the article is written that was linked to makes it sound as if they want to sell individual hotels or sell the real estate (and keep the management contracts), but who knows if Marriott made an offer they couldn't refuse,
