Personal Platinum card- fee posted Jan 8 up $200 from last year- chatted, transferred to retention, they gave the usual speech about new benefits (with my pointing out they're also harder to use, one has to travel once every 6 months instead of 12 for the full value of the hotel credit for example)- after that was done no retention offers were available- keeping anyway because the higher perks really are worth it now ($400 resy and $200 uber credits are good as cash to me, so even using one of the two hotel credits gets me to $5 over the AF without considering the $200 airline credits that as near-good-as-cash for UA, the chance I'd use the second $300 hotel credit in a given year, or the "things I prob. wouldn't pay for without credits but nice to have anyway" stuff like U1 or CLEAR.... So good job to Amex I guess doing the opposite of Chase with the CSR and making the coupon book good enough to keep the card anyway.
