If I'd be you I would do that.

You can also try calling UA with a flight that you want to book that is post FFC expiration and see if they convert it to an ETC for you to be able to book that. If you are successful in getting them to convert to ETC then you'll be able to save yourself from losing the credit plus it will be more flexible as you can use it for others.
