This seems bonkers to me. Cutting the economy product to compete on price just about makes sense. But these changes will save pennies but put off passengers dropping hundreds of pounds on flights.

I’m the type of passenger who can be tempted to pay for CE to have a nice flight / as a treat even though I have status (so get the lounge etc). Many people think I’m bonkers as it’s already not really worth it!

Already I’d only go CE if I knew I was getting the full meal and bar service etc. So band 3 and above. Maybe a band 2 if at dinner time where I don’t want to eat at the destination.

But these changes will mean that going forward I simply won’t bother even on Band 3/4 flights. I’ll save the cash or avios and spend it on a decent meal at my destination.

I agree with all the points above that too many people accept things they don’t like being cut. The result is eventually the things you like are cut too! People should vote with their wallets and fly economy - it’s not as if the tier points are worth it now.
