Many of you may recall that as recently as 2 years ago a one way Business Class upgrade from Economy to Business was 50,000 for Transatlantic flights. They then raised that to 65,000 miles, and did give at least 2 months notice of this change. It would seem that seemingly just a week ago TK not only raised this amount to 90,000 Each way, but cannot keep their story straight as to where/why /how this started, as they made no announcement whatsoever, and when queried about this cannot keep their story straight.

Background; I was on a RT ticket IST-NA leaving in December and returning in recent days. I upgraded the outgoing flight for 65k. The inbound in early January was NOT available at the time, and I judiciously watched the flight inventory, until the day before. What I do know as that 25 hours before the flight there were a MINIMUM of 11 seats still for sale on the given flight. At T-24 upgrades became available, but at 90,000 miles, I took it as I figured it was some sort of error and I could sort it later, because I needed it. I should mention that in the email confirmation there is no mention of an amount of miles redeemed, solely that i had redeemed for a Business Class upgrade. I flew and then contacted CS about this error. I should note that as late as Jan 2, I had been looking at their website to check upgrade costs to South America for a trip in the near future and the amount stated for North America was still 65.

CS responded to me that there has been a change in TK rules and that "last minute" upgrades confirmed within 72 hours of a flight to/fr North America are now 90k. I have responded by asking the question of where and when has TK notified its members of this last minute change of rules as there is NOTHING to be found anywhere on the internet about this. In fact the last of any changes that they have made to rules and conditions and rates seemed to have been in Mid November. I have been clear that they have the right to change anything at anytime, HOWEVER according to their own terms and conditions they have done nothing to inform their members. I am still awaiting their response. I am hopeful that I will get the difference back this time as they have violated their own terms and conditions thus far, as they have jumped the gun on this. But all please be warned of this rule/cost change, because as far as I know this is how they intend on going forward.
