Is there any way to see available seats before taking an upgrade? I usually fly AFKL where you upgrade by simply choosing a J seat from the seat map, but BA upgrades don't seem to work that way.

I have upcoming flights to/from GIB and since they're probably a once in a lifetime thing, I'm very keen on having a window seat but I'd also like to upgrade them if the price is right, since they are pretty long flights.
