T’way Air (TW) Experiences

I just flew on T’way from Busan to Kansai (PUS to KIX) for my first experience on a Korean LCC. I booked online via T’way’s website, which actually worked (I don’t remember if it was Jeju or Jin that I tried first and couldn’t the website to work for me). The check-in desk at PUS opened 2.5 hours before scheduled departure. The staff were friendly and requested my booking number (PNR) in addition to my passport. They then asked for information for a departure flight from Japan, which I provided. They asked if I would prefer a window or aisle seat (3-3 configuration on the 738) and were able to oblige my request for an aisle seat. My checked bag was 14.5 kg and was not charged extra (I think 15 kg is included). They did not weigh or size my carry-on (backpack) during any portion of the journey.

Security at PUS was very thorough and made me remove many items from my backpack for them to investigate, but all was fine despite their suspicions about my wet wipes (they let me take them as I guess they decided they weren’t wet enough to count as liquids). Automated passport control for this foreigner went smoothly.

At boarding (on time), the staff did passport and BP checks along with asking if we had any power banks. We then boarded buses at gate 6 to go to the plane. The FA at the plane door scanned our boarding passes again. The plane was comfortable enough with not the worst seat nor the worst legroom (I am 5 feet 11 and was fine). There was no complimentary service or water provided.

Landing was very hard. It was actually quite scary and jolting.

I would consider flying them again for a short regional flight if the price made sense, but the safety records of some Korean airlines along with my landing experience do make me have trepidations.
