That's not how mine worked, got it for making Titanium and it expired on New Year's. Just waiting for my final EQMs to post any day now to get me back over the hump so I can select it again.
Again if you had an existing membership (which probably ended on 12/31) it just added another 12 months to that.
If you never had a membership and select it you get 12 months from the date of picking it.
