However, I was going to bump the stay to the following weekend because the weather looks much better and this hotel is known for its outdoor spaces. When I log in to Amex travel and open the booking, one option is 'Change Dates'. If I follow the steps and select the date next weekend, which is slightly more expensive, I receive a final confirmation page that suggests I will only be charged the small difference ('original cost paid: XXXX'; 'new trip cost: XXXX'; Remaining Cost Due Today: XXXXX'). The remaining cost due is just the small difference (c. $40) between what I paid in December and the cost for the new date, so it seems what I paid in December is being applied as a credit towards the new date (same hotel). Does this mean I can successfully change the date, pay the small difference, and still have it utilize my 2025 $300 FHR credit?
Yes.
And you'll be able to use $40 from the new $300 credit.
