I booked a ticket on 016 stock for the following itinerary:

CM 744 GRU>PTY 5:25am-10:12am Monday
CM 476 PTY>DEN 12:56pm-6:16pm Monday
UA 348 DEN>BZN 7:49am-9:42am Tuesday

There is a DEN>BZN flight available 7:30pm-9:22pm Monday that I'd really like to get on. It's probably shorter than MCT which is why I can't book it, but with GE and no checked bag I think I can make it as long as my incoming flight is on time. Can I "same day" standby on this flight even though my original UA flight is the next day?

If not, there's a WN flight at 9:30pm, so I'll probably just throw away the final segment rather than stay overnight.
