Anyone successful traveled with both avy bag and ski boots (?personal item) as carry on? They are both technically allowed as carry on, electric avybag can't be checked. I've flown a bunch of YVR YYC segments and just check my boots, as fairly reliable route. However now flying to Geneva via Montreal (skiing chamonix). Boots not making it would ruin trip. I'm a mondo 32 so they are actually way bigger than personal item. Should I just try tossing them in a dry bag and seeing if they'll let me take both and if no check them?
My boots are sacred to me and we (myself and my family) always bring ours as carry-on - in boot bag with helmet & goggles (with gloves, etc. also stuffed in there). I also carry on a backpack at the same time (standard one, not an avy bag) and I've never had any issues.
