Some Star airlines do offer seating benefits for their own elites though. On LH Group, Senators get free seat selection including exit rows, I believe even on light fares. LO has been mentioned and I believe UA offers some seat choice even for other elites. A3 gives a seat fee discount for its own elites but not those from partner airlines. It's a huge disadvantage of Star Alliance which feels like the benefits are drifting further apart between the member airlines.
