Obviously none of us know what arrangements these two have, what decisions were made and who made them but it isn't unreasonable for a potential customer to conclude that these two put together a deal that solved a pressing problem for both parties and therefore no expectation that knew that the offer was a mistake. At worst they might have concluded that offering 250 Avios/dollar might have been more than necessary to generate the amount of sales desired.
Everyone knew it was a mistake (the 2nd post on this thread highlights this). We get these same arguments every time there is a mistake airfare...
