Do we now live in a world where a business can advertise basically anything then switch it out with no accountability? In my line of business if we made such mistake we would either honour it or attempt to make it right (some sort of compromise offer to the client). I personally won’t be doing a chargeback because it doesn’t sit right with me. I guess my friend in the US will have to return the item unless BA decide to turn this around (doubtful based on track record).
That's what all the fast-talked jargon is for in car ads!

Ultimately, I suspect that someone Valuedynamx or Kate Spade input an increased earning rate, which permeated through the different platforms based on a predetermined earn rate. There was either a breakdown in what was displayed vs. what was tracked & programmed, or someone manually went back and updated the earn rate for the period of time to 4x.

The pressure for Valuedynamx to honor these will need to come from the airline.

IMHO, the most effective way to add pressure and visibility would be to leverage DOT, CAA, and other consumer bodies. Airlines ultimately bear the marketing relationship with the consumer and truth in advertising obligations. This is no different than punting an issue with holiday packages or hotels. (And why not sell 250 Avios instead of 4 to Valuedynamx?)
Ya think they would have an internal "max ___pts per $" on their system for each vendor/supplier. Anything more would require a manager/director/whatever over-ride.

But maybe that's too intelligent.

Heck..maybe it's a upper level manager / director, etc...that did it!
