I think based on the comments about the short time to collect bags etc, the small added cost of booking the Vueling flight is worth it. 20 mins extra plus the time saved on the monorail is enough to give me some breathing space. Plus, Vueling have a number of later flights so it may be easier for them to accomodate if we don't make the first one?
Vueling have a cool “bring your flight forward” feature on their app, available same day of your flight. For a small cost I think €30 or €40 (no calculation of fare difference) you can move your flight to an earlier flight. I’ve used it a number of times when I’m available early to get off early. If I was worried about a tight connection I would be tempted to book a later flight and then use this feature if all is looking on-schedule.
