The Vueling option means you’d stay in the South Terminal but you are unlikely to be able to add that to a BA booking (unless there is reward availability on a codeshare), so you’d still have many of the same issues especially with checked bags.
The EZY flight is indeed from the North, it's also 20 mins earlier. As you say the Vueling option, regardless of if I can add to same booking (can I?) may be a better option. We will have hold luggage too.
