The agent was very apologetic but said only Gold can access the BA lounge in EDI when flying Qatar. Business and silver being sent to Turkish lounge which is pretty mediocre, especially for food.

BA Lounge looked dead as this was 5am in the morning fwiw, so not a capacity thing but a broader policy.

We were 2 silvers and 2 non-status passengers in J on QR. Didn’t have the energy to argue at that time in the morning. I suspect if I had just started scanning the bps myself they would have worked.
This seems to be pattern of behaviour at the BA Edinburgh lounge. I've had an agent ask quite aggressively if I'm a BA Gold Card holder when I've presented at Finnair boarding pass - I said that I am, but that I'm allowed access in any case given my oneworld business class ticket. I don't see why a BA Gold should be given access on a Finnair business ticket if there really are capacity issues, but that's what they try to do! I think it's just BA being a bit thick - they get paid by the other airline if they let folk in, so what's the problem? The Edinburgh lounge is big and I'd be surprised if they regularly had capacity issues...

The thing that annoyed me is that there wasn't any attempt to say the lounge was busy - he was just automatically quite rude upon seeing the Finnair boarding pass. I stood up to him (politely) and was allowed in without having to prove my BA status (which obv you could tell from my Finnair boarding pass, though he hadn't really read it before he came out with his aggressive opening - he just saw it was a Finnair pass and went into his aggressive spiel). I was entitled into the lounge (as any BA Silver or Gold or OWS or OWE or OW Business or First traveller would be) and it wasn't anywhere near full.
