1. You will get your points back but I believe the hotel will charge a cancelation penalty of the corresponding BAR in entirety to your card on file
2. As I mentioned above, the booking channels for this hotel is opaque and senior management remains extremely tight-lipped about this (or maybe they just consider I'm not a high yielding guest enough.). So there must be some leeway on how this works.
Speaking of which, I saw members from two other of the 'big four tycoon families' of HK (with the owner of the hotel being one themselves) holidaying here this Christmas. It's just impossible that they (or their PAs) would go through the 7am room-snatching ordeal 11 months in advance like us ordinary people.
