However for flights departing to Japan they continue to serve breakfasty items for pre arrival meal which is odd given that it is neither breakfast time in the US or Japan at that time.
Yes, I just noticed this as well for my flight this week. It makes no sense.
I've been flying the East Coast - Tokyo routes regularly for over a decade and this is first time they haven't had some breakfast option(s) prior to landing. The westbound (IAD-HND) daytime flight still offers 2 breakfast entrees prior to landing at 5pm, but the eastbound (HND-IAD) overnight flight now only offers 3 Japanese non-breakfast options for the pre-arrival meal (cod, vegetable curry, or pork katsu). Also, the first time there's no western option for the pre-arrival (although I'm less concerned about that).
Make this make sense!
