Same experience for my brother who just opened a new Plat Biz Card.

He received the card on 12/30 - he did not get an option for a temporary instant number so could not start using the benefits until the physical card was received and added to his online account. United was selected and shortly thereafter (because he didn't want to risk waiting a day until the last day of the year) 2 x $100 United TB was purchased for self on my dad's account. Today on 1/3 the 2x $100 credit posted with a 1/2 date and the 2026 $200 remains unused.

Couple of notes:

• UA TB purchases tend to post with the actual date the transaction is made even though it is pending for a couple of days until it posts.
• Purchasing shortly after making airline selection (and making sure the email was received) will still trigger the credit; honestly no need to wait a day but you certainly can if you have the time and feel more comfortable doing so.
• Purchasing for self on a family member's account does work to receive the credit. It's only if purchased as gift that the credit is not triggered.
