Hotel management do read your profile and arrange my drink of preference in my welcome basket. Even without a Regency Club for this brand, I would stay here again.
Is your preference beer? That seems to be what everyone gets (it’s what I got which is certainly not my preference).
Been here just under 24 hours after an eight night stay at PH, I think moving here was a big mistake and I just wasted an SNA. Sorry, but I don’t get this place, it’s painfully mid to me. In particular:
- Breakfast this morning I would rate as poor for a Bangkok five star hotel. Coffee is from a fully automated machine, very small buffet with poor quality fruit, sparkling water was chargeable. The much vaunted avocado toast above has a lot of stuff on top, but it was a thin smear of watery guacamole underneath and no slices of avocado. Granted, the sourdough bread they use is very good
- Gym has good equipment but is PACKED with mosquitos as they have a balcony with chairs in it people seem to use to smoke. A pet hate of mine, unfortunately
- A lot of the loungers by the pool are quite beat up already / not comfortable. I assume sun will eventually come out for an hour or so, but pool is in the shade most of the day and quite windy it seems
- Some finishes in the room are cheap and cheerful, curtains don’t fully black out etc. Yes, the PH also feels a bit cheaply finished for a PH but it’s miles better than this. I’d say quality of finish is clearly below the likes of Kimpton, RC and Marriott Surawongse amongst the more recent five stars I’ve stayed in in BKK
- The giant single sink in my suite is blocked / doesn’t drain, there is the odd hair around the bathroom given the size and housekeeping is not perfect, room smells slightly of smoke also
Staff are generally very nice indeed as others have noted. Food at Standard Grill last night was good. Overall this is not really for me, though.
