OK, so which one of these statements is true?

Here's my situation: I'm going to POP later this month with one of our sons. Now Mrs. Wildcat is saying that she wouldn't mind to come to us. However, the outbound flight is J3 C2 D0 Z0 P0. As a result, a J ticket would be quite expensive. Basically the same as a J ticket to KRK. The return is P5, so no problems there. I was thinking about booking the outbound in Flex, the return in J and try to upgrade the outbound. Mrs. Wildcat has no status and she is my eUpgrade nominee. The questions are:
1. Is it possible to try to upgrade such booking?
2. What would be Mrs. Wildcat's priority?
3. Would it be possible to link our PNRs (giving her the same priority as mine in case of IROPS) and yet request an upgrade?
