Sure C, here are the restaurants which I have been to and enjoyed a lot - none are fine dining Michelin star places, but they are all excellent, and listed in order of preference:
  1. Somboon Seafood: amazing crabs as they are known for their fried curry crabs and Thai river prawns. A spacious restaurant with top notch service right inside Central Embassy and a short elevator ride from the Park Hyatt
  2. Nara Thai Cuisine: simply outstanding high end Thai food by 2 women chefs, Michelin rated. They have many locations, but I love the convenience of taking the elevator down from the Park Hyatt
  3. Hong Bao: it's a chain but it's Hong Kong in Bangkok and arguably the city's best Cantonese restaurant
  4. Ñamñam Pasta and Tapas: they are not Italian and do not claim to be one, and not Spanish either. They take the Italian classics and make it their own with Asian twists, so fun to eat!
  5. The Raw Bar: they import oysters in from Brittany and other parts of France, as well as from the USA, Australia, Ireland, Japan, to go with fine Champagne and may be some lobsters and mussels. I had many afternoon casse-croutes here
  6. Thong Smith Boat Noodles, sure it's a big chain and you can get their famous boat noodles all over Bangkok at cheaper prices too. But it is so conveniently located inside Central Embassy
All those are great, but arguably my favorite spot (and what a surprise discovery) is actually at the Central Chidlom mall next door, and you can walk through an indoor tunnel from Central Embassy to Ăn Cơm Ăn Cá which is a full-service Vietnamese restaurant located in a food court setting. We accidently found it in 2023 a few days before our trip to Saigon, and we were asking ourselves should we try Vietnamese food in Bangkok before going to Vietnam? Would it make any sense? Well, the rest is history, and they managed to serve BETTER chả giò (the iconic Vietnamese fried spring rolls) and cá kho tộ (the famous comfort food Vietnamese caramelized and braised fish in a clay pot) than in Vietnam! If you do go to this place, be sure to order those 2 dishes.

Bangkok has so many Michelin starred restaurants and I actually do NOT like many of them. But I do love Paste Bangkok and Nusara, both 1 star.

Finally, the Penthouse Grill atop the Park Hyatt Bangkok is actually pretty good, and it's a good place to burn the $100 food credit if you book with FHR - I know the head of F&B at the hotel and he can make a special evening for you if you like (he did for me).
