Multiple times I've seen people on the upgrade list for PY (meaning they likely paid for something less than PY) ranked higher than me on the J list when I had a PL ticket but never when I had a PF ticket.
One very simple example that I've personally experienced is that I'm paid J, something goes wrong, I end up on a flight that's J0 O0.

Now I'm confirmed in Y, so not on the Y list, but I am top of the list for J and PY. I've also seen deadheading pilots in this exact scenario.

It's not "paid less", it's "currently seated in a lower cabin than they paid for".

The wiki is not wrong. You're just making an assumption that people on the "upgrade list" are currently confirmed on the flight and using eUpgrades.

This thread has countless experiences that prove the wiki is correct. The only remote exception we've seen has been that weird PY FP that seemed to be prioritized as Y, but it's been a single FP in the history of this thread. Everything else was easily explainable by how we know (not speculation) the gate list works.

Again, Jack's case involves a lot of the nuances of the onload recommendation list (whereas the wiki is more about the simple cases of "pure eUpgrades" and "pure standby" - I'm not even sure if it touches on "eUpgrade + standby"). He's on standby with an eUpgrade request.

He's also on a very coveted flight, where it's much more likely that you'll run into these edge cases.
