I do not believe that is correct. I haven't had a non-SE nominee since we had multiple slots, but I'm pretty sure they get their own priority at the gate.

You're high (#2 at the moment) on the PY list because you paid for PY, and therefore have priority over eUps.
You're at the bottom of J because "eUpgrades from people not confirmed on the flight" are below "eUpgrades from people confirmed on the flight".
If there were space in PY, and I were remotely confident you'd even be in the top 5 now, I'd say "just do a SDC". But there isn't, and I'm not.

That's not true. See the wiki for general priority, and my above correct explanation for this specific case.
