I have had great long haul value many times, eg J to Syd, F to Japan. But the other reason for 241/Avios, as one ages & medical conditions occur is that seats are cancellable. Just booked JTR for two, 50000 Avios plus £50 vs £1700 for CE flexible (needs £300 card fee tho, but still half price).
