I was trumped before by a regular *G while being Elite. Luckily I have friends at TK that tell me what happened at boarding time. I wish TK had the priority list for upgrade transparently publisjed in the app like Delta does. Also wish they offerend the hard product only upgrade (no food no amenities) at all time complimentary when seats are free. That would not cost them anything bit would attract more pax
The reason US3 have such an open and relatively transparent upgrade process is because space available upgrades on short haul are arguably the most important perk for their FF programs. And frankly filling up an empty J cabin with complimentary upgrades (even if they didn’t get J food) would seriously devalue the premium aspect of the J product, which arguably would be quite costly to them in the long run.
