My neighbor is a LTG and I feel that he barely cares he has that status since he doesn't travel nearly as much as he used to anymore. He is also is a Marriott lifetime titanium member and basically says that status is next to worthless.
In any event I'm not going to chase lifetime status from any brand, if it happens organically fine but who knows how liftetime status from a brand gets devalued as time goes by. Marriott and Hilton are both perfect examples of that happening.
I'm at the age where my awareness is heightened regarding the value of future status. Like you say, I can no longer be deluded into thinking I'll want to travel as much in the future or that the status would matter by the time I would get it. Now is what really matters.
