The system also seems to struggle with linking short haul J connections to inbound F long haul legs on the same itinerary.
A recent example: I arrived at the CCR in early December having flown from BOS in First and presented my boarding pass for a domestic connection in CE (same booking reference). It was rejected by the computer, at which point I was informed that I should go to the Flounge instead.
I pointed out that it was a First Class ticket and the lounge agent tried again to no avail. He then tried to take my phone away to go and ask someone - at which point another agent intervened and suggested scanning the inbound boarding pass instead. This worked and I was granted entry with an apology.
It’s this sort of thing that they need to sort out - partly because it’s less than a First Class experience and partly because no doubt some eligible customers (e.g., status-less F inbounds with a short haul connection) will be incorrectly denied access and not know any better to be able to push back.
