Usually, you'd have to build trips around when kids are not in school or out on vacation. During the summer, parents may and can take trips based on their own (meetings) schedules.
One other point is now that many people are work from X location, they are doing just that and flying as you do, when tickets and rooms price out cheaper. Assumes availability of decent wifi/connectivity at end point arrival location(s). Or, perhaps, a small Starlink terminal+power source and a view to the sky.
