The runway views from top floor at HR LAX are better but the hotel itself does not compare.
Mostly agree with the above, though while you won't get the excitement of takeoffs and landings the A gates views can still be interesting esp. for the international airlines, and there will often be aircraft parked in the corner of the apron closer to the GH.

The GH SFO west-facing suites look towards the 101 freeway. I quite like the evening views of the clouds coming over the hills as well as the airport traffic. Your milage may vary. The suite upgrades at the HR SFO are the business suites that are on the second floor, facing inwards. Not my preference. I prefer high floors facing the east with bay views. Lovely for plane spotting.
For what it's worth, I've gotten HR SFO upgrades to suites facing the bay on more than one occasion.
