Points value upon cancellation
Any points refunded for cancelling this booking will not be eligible for 1.5x value when redeemed for Chase Travel. Instead, they'll redeem at the 1:1 base rate.

I checked all my refundable AA Chase Points Flights for January and none of them have this warning on them if I click the cancel button. All my February ones do.
Maybe there is a new rule that redeemed points go back to being 1x after Feb 1? A little challenging for me personally as I am willing to pay more for the refundable flights to get the flexibility, but not if I lose the 50% kicker. Perhaps moving forward I will only buy straight through the airline if I am not 100% I am taking the flight. But I have about 800k UR points I am trying to plow through before the 1.5 goes away so that's going to be hard.
Any new points are worth only 1:1. That includes any redeposited points. I canceled 2 hotel bookings, 1 of which I made in Nov. I got the warning that my returned points would only be worth 1:1 instead of the “old” point valuation of 1:1.5 when I used them to book
