I agree. We are talking 10+ years here but I have aborted a domestic and even though I had a passport, I remember being taken by a BA rep through pass operated doors, to some kind of computer terminal and at the time my understanding was my photo was basically verified then deleted, my ticket cancelled and queued for a refund (this was pre fly ie with the old blue screen tip tap keystrokes system that looked a bit like MS Dos!)

I remember I waited for a good 45 minutes and was quite embarrassed by the amount of faffage this caused but the Senior Customer Service person who helped me airside was v clear I was not supposed to go to Int Arrivals.

I aborted as flight was delayed something like 6 hours!
