Just did a quick stay here at the local doing a mattress run, generally agree with most of the prior reports. It's a good hotel, a bit dated but well maintained, and has a solid location for tourists. I think this is the best Hyatt in Boston by some margin.

Room: Booked a 1 King and got upgraded at check-in to a Junior Suite on the top floor. Felt honestly pretty close to a standard suite, I've stayed in "regular" ones that have felt far more junior. My room was next to the line of terrace suites and the view is fantastic. It's definitely an older design, but it felt well maintained and fresher than the hotel's online pictures give off. Room wasn't ready until 5pm and that seemed to be a common issue if you weren't in a base room.

Property: Downtown Crossing is a pretty drab area but super convenient for both tourists and business visitors. The pool looks like and might as well be straight out of a YMCA but it is a downtown Boston pool which is hard to come by. There is very well stocked gym and a sneaky nice sauna in the locker room. My stay was over the holiday break, so the demographic was mostly foreign families on holiday, but I imagine (and know from visiting colleagues) that they get a surge in business travel too.

Dining: You get a $10 dinner credit as part of the destination junk fee. Supposedly it is not eligible for pickup orders, but it worked automatically online. The burger was very solid, the Boston cream pie was an insult to all Bostonians. Breakfast was extraordinarily slow despite being a buffet and not super busy. I ordered off the menu, the chia seed pudding was great and the French Toast was good but covered in a very untasty "banana mascarpone." Globs get $35 pre-tax/tip.
