There's no getting around the spend for 1K...A Mileage Plus Chase card would help, but not much.
sounds like a lot of hub to hub in Y. seems like ORD-DEN-ORD is usually $220-275 in Y, Seems like the club or quest for the PQP spend to get over the edge to 1k would be a decent idea.
