Presumably the concern is what happens if it doesn't post, even via manual means. Realistically the odds of that happening are probably low, but the amount of effort required may be non-zero, and there's always the possibility the OP messed up the fare classes (for example) and the miles will never post. And if something does go wrong, by the time it plays out, it's too late to take another flights to make up for it.
