The points will still be there, at the same value to spend next year, so you're not actually spening additional money to get there; merely spending 500 Euros slightly earlier than you would have. In addition to free breakfast on weekends, you'll get one more SNU, and 100 Euros of dining credits, higher points earning rate next year, and essentially guaranteed soft landing to Platinum for 2027 if you don't maintain it next year. I'd say that's worth it, when the only cost to you is a slight delay on the redemption of your points.
Just to confirm I did follow both your advice. I'm pretty sure the hotel messed up points calculation (in my favor) as I paid part of the room charges with points but it appears I received points for the F&B spend I paid with points, netting me 1000 points more than I anticipated.

With the current stay (+254) and the stay on 29/12-31/12 (+704) I'll be there, but if all goes well Signature Absolute posts tomorrow (+1000) and then I can just use points to also pay for the 29-31 stay (currently still sitting on 34.000 reward points) and pay the 31/12-5/01 stay with cash to make use of the higher earning.
