While I should probably be happy that a PDB is served at all, has anyone witnessed the inconsistencies on when the FA comes back around to collect the PDB (finished or unfinished)? A few weeks ago, I was on a flight and the FA insisted that we had to be done with our drinks before the plane could be pushed back from the gate. For the vast majority of times, however, the FA will do one last walkthrough immediately before takeoff and collect all of the PDBs. Some other FAs, however, won't enforce this at all and will allow the First Class passengers to retain their PDBs through takeoff (although only in a plastic cup).

Is there an applicable service standard here? In main cabin, nothing prevents passengers from continuing to eat/drink food they have brought on board before takeoff. Why is there a different rule for PDBs served in a plastic cup?
