You could be using 20 or 30 visa exemptions and you will most likely be allowed in provided that the I.O. is satisfied, based on balance of probabilities, that you are not living here.

I really do think it is that simple guys. You either live here or you don't, and immigration will make that determination not only from the number of entries but your overall personal circumstances. I think this whole immigration drama is getting out of control and has received way more air-time that it deserves. I don't know if it is just me but I'm still seeing posts regarding this matter on my IG/Facebook months later, it's crazy. They're making it sound like coming here is now a roulette spin with double zeros, "will I be let in or out?", when is it clearly is not the case.
Legitimate tourists shouldn't have any problems or anything to worry about, and the vast majority won't have any issues.

However, the communication of the policies and rules means that it isn't always simple or clear. When official(-ish) signs appear at one border saying "2 visa-free entries per year" with no mention of this policy elsewhere, it's hard to know whether to believe it or not. Perfectly legitimate tourists could be entering Thailand for the 3rd time in one year, but if the 3rd entry happens to be at Nong Khai, the sign would suggest that they would be turned away.
