I think the pooled miles are just a "pool" and they are individually tracked across members of the family. So each member miles would be governed by their own expiration, e.g. you while holding a status have them frozen while your other 1/2 would have them on a regular expiration ticker if he/she doesn't hold a status / credit card.
When you book an award flight - the miles will be deduced from the pool in the ratio of the individual members, so no equally nor FIFO, unless that changed over the years.
