There are some times rather good connecting fares from the US to South East Asia, but not particularly sale fares.
I found a very good fare from YYZ-KUL/CGK (something my US based friend couldn’t replicate). My final destination is PER but it’s less than half price to book a ticket to KUL/CGK instead.
