Going to IAB would mean a minimum of two moon buggy / train trips unless you happen to end up with a flight from the Z gates, whereas going via the connections flow is a minimum of one, and then you exit midfield security at C7. I really don't see an argument for going to IAB here, unless you'd like to find out if PenFed has great rates for you (spoiler: PenFed has great rates for everyone!)
