I wonder if some of that may be the paucity of options, e.g. Cleveland's European traffic is diluted among LON, CDG, DUB, FRA, ZRH, AMS, ... while for Asia TYO (feels like) the elephant in the room with ICN, PEK etc. not being quite as easy especially if that's not your final destination.

All of the data must be for final destination, not the destination of the UA flight. It’s the only reason FRA can be #10 on the list. So the list of destinations in Europe is closer to a hundred than it is to 10.
