That's a good move (in my mind). The lounges by the EK gate are the LH and SK ones. EK uses the SK one but it doesn't sound like you will get access. I don't believe that they sell access at the door for cash (but you can try). I wouldn't worry about it too much though. The lounge is pretty mediocre, although the gate area is pretty dire... My suggestion is to get to the airport with the minimum amount of time and enjoy the flight.
